Lomas Dhungel, a teacher at the Government Senior Secondary School in Sikkim’s Makha village, Started a project ‘Hariyo Makha–Sikkim Against Pollution’(‘Hariyo’ is a vernacular word for green) in 2015.

He has been teaching, motivating and working with his students towards a sustainable future by recycling waste through multiple initiatives.

The profit earned from the above activities is used to sponsor education of village kids.

He converted nearly 50,000 plastic chips packet into 3000 book covers that were sold to schools of neighboring villages. This was a major hit back with school students.
